KNITTING
FOR POLAND
Thank
you to all the knitters, who each year turn up with lovely clothes
for
all ages and sizes.
Another consignment of hand knitted clothes is on its way to
Poland knitted
by a group of clever knitters from around the village. We have
sent
knitting to Poland for the last 30 years, via Mr Adam and Lady
Barbara
Kwiatkowski. Last year was more difficult and we sent it through
a group
called FHLIP [Providing Care for Children in Poland], after contacting
the
Polish Embassy. This year FHLIP have stopped sending clothes
to Poland, but
have been able to send this year's clothes to Falenica and Gdansk
in Poland
as a one off.
It is important
that we keep knitting, so Elaine O'Byrne and I have been in
touch with The Haven in Wolverhampton [www.havenrefuge.org.uk],
who provide
emergency temporary accommodation and support services to women
and children
affected by domestic violence and homelessness. They would very
much
welcome clothes for ladies and children. They particularly ask
for grey
school jumpers.
We have also been in touch with Living Springs [www.livingsprings.co.uk]
which is in Kinver parish near to The Stewpony. They provide
care, support
and help to vulnerable children and families and would welcome
baby clothes.
If you know of any other organisations which we could send this
wonderful
knitting to please let Elaine or me know. I'm afraid we have
no outlet yet
for the slippers which went to the orphanages.
This is all very encouraging, so please KEEP KNITTING.
