New
allotments are created
St. Chad's Allotment
Group Pattingham with the assistance of St. Chad's Church Trustees
and Pattingham & Patshull Parish Council, created a site
of 44 plots on a fallow field within the village, for villagers
and residents from surrounding areas. In a short time we have
achieved much and have created a valuable community resource.
Many of our members have children and grandchildren who are actively
involved in the growing process.
We are eating
fresh and organic food and are constantly learning new skills
in horticulture. We enjoy social gatherings and have a healthier
lifestyle with lots more exercise. We help the environment by
protecting a green space and reducing food miles. We are also
saving a fortune in shopping bills!
Bees and beneficial
insects have visited the site in abundance. There is a small
nature reserve adjacent and Herons, Birds of Prey and other animals
can be seen regularly.
There is an administering committee who are determined that this
will continue and the site to be improved upon year by year.
The photogallery that follows shows the progress of the allotments
through the months from February to August... from a bare field
to productive plots.
